What is a grassroots music venue?
A grassroots music venue is a small, usually independent venue that puts on live music, often from local and up-and-coming artists. They're where most bands play their first gigs, build a following and learn their craft before moving on to bigger stages. Many of the UK's biggest acts started out in rooms just like the ones in our guides.
Why should I go to gigs at smaller venues?
Smaller venues get you closer to the music, often for a fraction of the price of an arena show. You might catch a band just before they blow up, discover a new favourite act on the support slot, or see a much-loved artist in an intimate setting. And every ticket you buy helps keep your local scene going.
What's included in each venue guide?
Each guide has everything you need to plan your night out. That includes the venue's history, how to get there by train, bus or car, parking, accessibility information, age restrictions and answers to common questions. You'll also find upcoming gigs and events at the venue, with tickets on sale now.
How do I book accessible tickets?
We work with Nimbus Disability's Access Card scheme to make booking accessible tickets simpler. You can apply for a free Gigantic Digital Access Pass, or use an existing Nimbus Access Card. Are gigs at these venues suitable for under 18s?
Age restrictions vary by venue and by event, so it's always worth checking before you book. You'll find each venue's general policy in its guide, and the specific age restriction for each gig on its event page.
What happens if I can't make the gig?
You can add our optional Refund Plan when you book. If you can't attend for a qualifying reason, such as illness confirmed by a doctor or unexpected public transport disruption, you can claim a face-value refund. The best way is simply to go. Book tickets early, because strong advance sales help venues and promoters keep putting shows on. Get down in time for the support acts, grab a drink at the bar and pick up some merch, since all of it helps keep these rooms open for the next generation of bands.
